Upgrade Complete!!

I finally updated the site to the latest version of the weblog software I use (MovableType). The new version also includes an anti-spam module that should cut down or eliminate the spam in the comments.

I have some great pictures that I'll be uploading today, so check back soon!

Photo Gallery Updated (finally)

I hadn't posted any new pictures in the photo gallery for awhile because I was waiting to rebuild it. I had created it with full-size images (2MB a piece) from my camera and quickly ran out of storage space on my hosting provider. So I've finally rebuilt the gallery with smaller pictures (you won't notice a difference, though). I've also added lots of pictures from the holidays.

I couldn't resist taking this opportunity to post a funny picture of my brother Dan. Melody and I really miss his company now that we are living in St. Louis and he still lives in Springfield, MO. While we lived in Springfield, we saw him every other day on average. We love and miss you Dan!

Website Move Successful

I successfully completed the website transfer to phpwebhosting.com. I thought it would be safer to pay $10 per month to have it hosted instead of hosting on my cable modem. If anyone has any problems with accessing the site, let me know.

The Title Picture

Melody thought it would be good to explain the picture I used for the main index page. That's a picture I took while Mom, JT and I were at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. I am pointing north. If you could follow the picture further north and east, around the peninsula, you would run into the Golden Gate bridge and the mouth of the San Francisco Bay. California is such a beautiful place!

Good Enough for Government Work

The site is finally ready to go live. There are still things I'd like to do:
  • power backup on edge router
  • update DNS
  • more than one image on recent pics (more PERL programming)
  • copy Lubrano's "What I'm Reading.." stuff (nice job on your site Mike)
  • archives section on index page
  • more work on Gallery plugin (generalize it for sharing)
  • "Web Log" on image title should be "Weblog"
  • links section
  • weather plugin
  • make non-index templates better looking
  • I'm sure I'll think of more...
