Happy Graduation

Monika and Justin both graduated a few weeks ago. We are all very proud of them. They will be moving to Australia soon. Have we mentioned that we are going to miss you? :-)

Monika The Bubble Expert

This is a fun picture of Monika. Melody took this during their visit in Florida.

We miss you Dad

Dad sent this picture a few days ago. We sure miss him. You look like you are in good shape. Huong must be taking good care of you!

Landscaping

I like this picture of Melody and Lukas. We spent the prior day planting flowers and trees in our yard. Missing in this picture is the bench that sits in the middle of the flowers. It is in the processes of being repainted (a second time...long story).

Our "fair and balanced" Media

This isn't family related, but I thought it was important. One of my best friends, Michael Lubrano, is in Iraq as a contractor. His brother-in-law (also one of my best friends), Jason Shaffer, is out there as well. The two of them work tirelessly, in extremely dangerous conditions each day, to rebuild a country that's been decimated by its own leaders for decades. Michael has always told me that our media doesn’t “get it”. They don’t report the real story in Iraq.

What happened at Abu Ghraib was inexcusable. But our media chooses to parade those images in front of the American people 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Yet, they conveniently forget to tell the stories about our heroes that are sacrificing their lives so that we can have the right to free speech. It is ironic, to say the least.

Here is an article that I hope all of you will read. You won’t find this on the 6:00pm news.

Also, if you have time, read through Michael's blog and Jason's blog.

Yard Work

Spring is definately in full swing. Even though I hate yard work, this is the right time to do it since the weather is still cool. We planted a couple of miniature pine trees in front of our entryway today. Kaleb, of course, helped. Here is is triumphantly displaying some mud.

Melody picked out the trees. She is quite proud of them. I guess we can officially call her a tree hugger.
