First Snow of the Season

We woke up this morning to the first snow of the season. In St. Louis, it normally doesn’t snow and accumulate this early in the year, but we had the unexpected surprise today that put a nice exclamation mark on a great Thanksgiving week.

The week included some great visits with our very good friends (the Lubrano’s). They drove up from Baton Rouge to visit family and friends. Then Monta and Matt’s family stayed with us over Thanksgiving.

The best news of the week came on Friday when Jason and Meaghan got engaged. Congratulations to both of you! Melody and I are very happy for you.

Here’s a video I shot this morning of the snow. We put the Christmas decorations up just in time.

4th of July Celebration

We had a great time playing with fire on the 4th of July. Like last year, Matt and Jen hosted. His house isn’t really in a suburban neighborhood like mine, so fireworks off the back porch is acceptable as long as they aren’t aimed at the house or at someone. Dan joined us as well but Melody and Myles were in North Carolina with Monika, Justin and their new baby Magnolia.

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. First of all, it involves fire and blowing stuff up. Secondly, it’s not overly commercialized and thirdly, it was one of my Dad’s favorite holidays. So I always remember him when the 4th comes around. Here’s the video I put together of this year’s celebration.

Kaleb’s Christmas Concert

For those of you who don’t know, Kaleb attends pre-school at Willot Road Christian Academy. This is his first year in school and this week he participated in his first Christmas concert!

Here’s a clip from the video of the concert. I recommend a fast internet connection since it is a bit large. I also apologize that it is a little shaky, I forgot my tripod!

Thankgiving at Jason and Meghann’s

Melody took this great picture of Gracie during our Thankgiving visit. Jason and Meghann hosted this year and we had a wonderful time.

The kids had fun cimbing on trees. I think this is the first time Kaleb has ever climbed a tree.

Aunt Monika’s Visit

Melody’s sister Monika stayed with us for a few days. I just love this picture. Something about the angles and perspective make it very kewl. Anyway, she and Kaleb played games all week. We all really miss her.

Melody and I were talking last night about here visit. She is very close to her sister and realized last night that it could be months before they see each other again. Justin, Monika’s husband, is in the process of interviewing for jobs in San Diego. We wish him the best during this process. If I remember correctly, he has something like 20 interviews in three days! That’s grueling!

Justin’s job will dictate where they end up. We’re hoping and praying that he gets a job with his first choice, but here’s hoping they end-up a little closer to home.

It’s new years eve already. This year has certainly passed quickly. Our thoughts and prayers are will all of our family and friends on the dawn of this new year. We miss and love all of you.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! This is what our house looked like this morning (still does actually). Dan (my youngest brother) is spending the holiday with us. We all opened gifts this morning.

Melody got me a foosball table this year! Let the foosball tournaments begin.

This picture is a shot from my webcam. Since most of our family is remote nowadays, I set this webcam up through Yahoo Instant Messenger.

We sure miss everyone and hope that all of you are doing well and enjoying the holiday. Let’s not not forget Jesus this season, who gave his life for our sins as the ultimate gift.

On a lighter note, here’s dan doing the duck walk for the webcam. Nice shirt.

Nanna’s House

This last weekend we visited Melody’s Mom (Monta Breeden, a.k.a Nanna) for Christmas. We all had a terrific time. There are new pictures in the gallery. Or you can view a slideshow of all Christmas 2003 pictures so far.

This picture is Monika (Melody’s sister), her husband Justin and Lukas. Monika and Justin live in Durham, North Carolina.

Christmas with Dan, Matt, Jen and Family

We had Chrismas last night with Matt, Jen, Eli, Malichi, Gracie and Uncle “sleepy” Dan. Mel and I had a great time. There are more pictures in the gallery. The kids (and adults) opened presents since we won’t see each other on Christmas (except for Dan).
